Vegan banana milkshake

I'm sure I'm not the only failed vegan around. There are so many reports of abuse & misery in animal agriculture and the debate hasn't even got to slaughterhouses yet.

My body just doesn't agree with the science around vegan nutrition or the activists who talk about how easy a plant-based diet is to follow. I help by eating tofu, beans, brown rice, plant milks and nuts alongside animal products. I have recently started eating bacon again and fish more than occasionally, but I rarely eat beef and I try to replace butter and cream with vegan alternatives.

Protein powders were a false hope for me on my vegan journey because they are usually made from whey (milk). Sadly, I think cows milk isn't drastically different from beef ethically because of the necessity to keep dairy cows pregnant.

Plant protein powders taste a bit off to me in large quantities but I'm pleased to use them where I can anyway, such as in this banana milkshake:

1 cup milk (here I used soya milk)

1 banana

2 tbsp protein powder

1 dessertspoon peanut butter

This contains about 20g of protein. It is delicious, especially because the nut butter makes it smoother.
