Unemployed but time poor

I think it goes without saying that there is a stigma around unemployment. I haven't had a job for 12 years and it is has been difficult for me to avoid the conclusion that pay defines what your time is worth. There is a lot of care in families that isn't covered by benefits but even if it was, benefits aren't pay - they also come with a stigma. I doubt anybody is lounging about the house - but they may be left with responsibilities based at home if they can't afford to go out. It is difficult to find quick, cheap and healthy ways to eat particularly in cold weather; what seems like an interesting take on a mainstream meal can be a game-changer.
